• Bolt 1 Tap to add an anchor the player can build from, or tap one to remove it. Taking the bolt off a pier leaves a seat. The near road end always stays.
• Pier 2 Tap a bolt over the gap to stand a pier under it. Tap anywhere else in the gap for a seat: a pier with no bolt. A deck laid on it or across it rests there, carried without being held down.
• Pylon 3 Tap where a pylon top should go: it rises from the water with a bolt on top.
• Mast 4 Tap where a mast top should go: it rises from the water on a hinge, so its top tips freely. Players hold it up with backstays to concrete anchors, which you offer in Settings.
• Channel 5 Tap open water to fill the stretch between the piers and banks either side, up to the road. Or drag to mark your own span, kept clear up to the height you start at. A dashed outline shows where it lands before you let go.
• Erase 6 Tap a bolt, seat, pylon, mast or channel to remove it.

A tap acts where your finger lifts, so you can slide it into place first, watching the magnifier. Two fingers pan and zoom without placing anything.

Drawbridges and rams

1. Mark the channel. The first channel brings a tall ship with a 3 m mast and offers rams. Change the mast under Settings › Traffic; a mast of 0 means no ship, just water to keep clear.
2. Give the ram something to push from. Stand a pier beside the channel with its bolt below the road, say 3 m down.
3. Give the leaf somewhere to lift from. One side of the channel is the hinge, a bolt at road height. The other side must let go: put a seat there, so the channel can sit anywhere in the gap, or free the far road end when the channel reaches the far bank. The header warns you while both sides are bolted.
4. Playtest it. Run the road from the hinge over the channel to the seat, put a ram from the pier bolt straight up to the road, and stiffen the leaf with a truss. Build the span beyond the seat as its own piece: it shares the seat but stays put while the leaf lifts.

Rams extend by 75% while the bridge opens, hold while the ship passes, then pull it shut before traffic goes. Stand the ram square under the leaf, a few meters from the hinge: right under the hinge it runs out of reach and breaks something.
